Trump Accuses New York Times of 'Doctoring' Photo of Doral Golf Club

Former President Donald Trump has accused The New York Times of deceptively altering a photograph of his golf resort in Doral, Florida, to make it appear in a negative light. Trump voiced his allegations in a post on his Truth Social platform, claiming the newspaper "DOCTORED the picture of the beautiful exterior facade of Doral, in Miami, trying to make it look as bad as possible."

The photograph in question, taken by independent photographer Scott McIntyre, depicts the clubhouse facade with noticeable darker spots. This image was featured in a New York Times story by correspondent Peter Baker concerning Trump's proposal to host the G20 summit at the resort.

Trump contrasted the Times' image with a photo from the Trump Organization's website, which shows a whiter and cleaner facade. He stated that the newspaper "want[s] World Leaders to see this, knowing it is not the ‘TRUMP’ way." He asserted that the "actual facade looks like the second picture posted, rather than the one doctored by The Times."

A spokesperson for The New York Times told HuffPost that the image was "not doctored" and was taken in 2020. Several videos shared on social media by the Trump Doral golf resort itself appear to show darker sections on the clubhouse facade, consistent with McIntyre's photograph. Additionally, images captured by Getty photographer Cliff Hawkins in 2023 ahead of a LIV Golf tournament at the resort also show parts of the facade appearing darker than depicted on the Trump Organization's promotional materials.

Trump referred to the Times as "STONE COLD LOSERS — Totally dishonest" and predicted they were heading "TO HELL."
