Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar of lying about her age and suggested she could face jail time. Trump also made disparaging remarks about Somalia, Omar's native country, referring to it as a "s--t house."
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump stated, "She’s a sick, very dishonest person, who hates our country, and she comes from a country that is essentially not even a country, Somalia."
Trump's comments stem from accusations that Omar's staff altered her birthdate in public records by one year after she was elected to Congress in 2018. This change led to allegations that she misrepresented her age to obtain U.S. citizenship.
