True Crime Influencer Charged with Wiretapping Patrick Clancy's Father

A true crime influencer has been charged with felony unlawful wiretapping in Massachusetts after allegedly recording a phone call with Patrick Clancy's father and posting it to Instagram. Shawna Gramkow, who manages several social media accounts with over 50,000 followers, was charged on Oct. 20.

The incident occurred on Aug. 30, according to police, when Gramkow posted a video to Instagram. She claimed an unknown individual called a phone number she said belonged to Patrick Clancy, following his attorney, Kevin Reddington, reading the number aloud during Lindsay Clancy's murder trial. Police stated that in the video, an adult male's voice could be heard, though the content was indistinct.

Christopher Clancy, Patrick Clancy's father, reported the incident to law enforcement on Sept. 4. He told investigators he believed the voice in the recording was his and that the call occurred on Aug. 6. Christopher Clancy stated he accidentally answered a call from an unfamiliar number, allowing the caller to record him without his knowledge or consent. He recognized some of his comments as being about his eldest son, Brian.

Gramkow denied the allegations in a Facebook video, calling them "false and easy to prove." While Massachusetts officials have filed charges, authorities in Florida confirmed Gramkow has not been arrested.

The charges emerge amid an apparent divergence in legal strategies between Patrick and Lindsay Clancy regarding their respective lawsuits against her medical providers. During a hearing in Norfolk County Superior Court, attorney Howard Cooper, representing Patrick Clancy, indicated he expected Lindsay Clancy to testify in her ex-husband's lawsuit, stating she would claim she informed her healthcare providers of homicidal ideation.

However, Lindsay Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, issued a statement refuting Cooper's claim. Reddington asserted that his client never told healthcare providers she harbored homicidal thoughts toward her children and has never indicated an intention to testify in Patrick Clancy's lawsuit. "Mr. Clancy's counsel does not speak for Lindsay Clancy," Reddington added.

Lindsay Clancy was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her three children, who were found strangled in January 2023. A mistrial was declared in her murder trial on Sept. 4, after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict, with the vote split 11-1.
