The 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will take place Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, airing on FOX at 8 p.m. ET with pregame coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET. This year's event showcases a mix of established veterans and rising young talent across both the American and National Leagues.

Veteran slugger Mike Trout, a surefire Hall of Famer, returns to the All-Star stage after battling injuries in recent seasons. Despite his age and past physical setbacks, Trout has demonstrated a return to top form in the first half of the season. For the Los Angeles Angels, who have struggled to reach the postseason, the All-Star Game represents Trout's biggest national platform.

Young stars are also set to make their mark. Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Junior Caminero, at 22 years old, has had an exceptional first half with 28 home runs in his team's first 94 games. New York Yankees first baseman Ben Rice has quietly become one of baseball's most productive hitters over the past two seasons. In the National League, Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages are among the notable young players.

Atlanta Braves catcher Drake Baldwin, the 2025 Rookie of the Year, will start behind the plate for the NL. The American League's bench will feature notable young players including rookie infielder Kevin McGonigle and Chicago White Sox infielder Miguel Vargas. The NL reserves include Cincinnati Reds infielder Sal Stewart and Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong.

Pitching Talent

Velocity is a key feature of modern baseball, and the All-Star Game will highlight several pitchers known for their high-90s fastballs. Cincinnati Reds pitcher Chase Burns averages nearly 98 mph with his fastball. Paul Skenes makes his second consecutive All-Star appearance, solidifying his status as a Cy Young contender. Philadelphia native Jhoan Duran will bring his triple-digit sinker to the mound, as will San Diego Padres closer Mason Miller.

Jacob Misiorowski of the Milwaukee Brewers has been nearly unhittable, boasting a 1.62 ERA with 167 strikeouts in 111 innings. He also set a Statcast-era record for the fastest pitch thrown by a starter. On the American League side, Aroldis Chapman continues to pitch effectively in his late 30s, alongside dominant closers Cade Smith of the Cleveland Guardians and Louis Varland of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Christopher Sanchez will start for the National League, with Dylan Cease taking the mound for the American League.

A Unique Tiebreaker Format

The 2025 All-Star Game concluded in a tie, leading to the introduction of a "swing-off" tiebreaker. This format, where three players each get three swings to hit home runs, was implemented to provide a decisive and exciting conclusion. Phillies star Kyle Schwarber was successful in the previous swing-off. The possibility of another tiebreaker looms for the 2026 game.

Despite expected dropouts and injury replacements, including Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge, the game features significant star power. Home crowd favorites in Philadelphia include Bryce Harper, Schwarber, Brandon Marsh, Duran, Sanchez, and Jesus Luzardo, who are expected to draw strong support.
