Trent Woolman of 'Love Island Australia' Suffers Severe Burns, Brain Bleed After Bonfire Accident

Trent Woolman, a former contestant on "Love Island Australia," is recovering in the hospital after sustaining severe burns and a brain bleed from falling into a bonfire. The incident occurred while Woolman was reportedly working alone near a fire pit at his sister's property.

Woolman, who appeared on Season 5 of the reality show, was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne. Doctors discovered not only burns to his arms, mouth, and airway but also a brain bleed and a cyst upon his admission. He described the experience as "traumatic and the worst time of my life."

Initially slated for immediate skin graft surgery on his arms, Woolman's procedures were delayed due to the discovery of the brain bleed. Medical staff have since treated the brain bleed and cyst, and he has undergone the necessary skin grafting.

Woolman reportedly had to crawl back to his sister's house for help after the accident, at which point an ambulance was called. His sister's quick actions were credited by Woolman as being "amazing" and "brave."

He has been hospitalized for over two weeks and is expected to remain for several more weeks. While skin grafts are generally successful, potential complications such as infection or bleeding can occur, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Woolman entered the "Love Island Australia" villa on day one of his season and was eliminated on day 22. He is slated to make a cameo appearance on the upcoming season of "Married at First Sight Australia," having been seen at the wedding of fellow "Love Island" alum Zac Nunns, who is joining the show as a new contestant.
