Treasury Yields Climb, Pressuring Asian Currencies
Rising yields on U.S. Treasury debt are strengthening the dollar and causing Asian currencies to consolidate.

Asian currencies experienced consolidation against the U.S. dollar in early trading as Treasury yields reached new highs. This trend is fueled by expectations of further interest rate increases by the Federal Reserve.
The upward movement in Treasury yields reflects growing anticipation of the Federal Reserve's monetary policy. "Oil is adding another layer of pressure to the rates story," stated MUFG Bank, suggesting that energy prices are contributing to the inflationary concerns that may prompt additional rate hikes.
The strengthening dollar, driven by higher U.S. interest rates, makes dollar-denominated assets more attractive to investors, thereby putting pressure on other currencies as capital flows toward the United States.
