Travis Kelce to Miss MTV VMAs Due to NFL Game
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end will be unable to attend the awards show where his wife, Taylor Swift, is a major nominee and honoree.
Travis Kelce will not be attending the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, opting instead to play in a game with his team, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are scheduled to face the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium in Florida on the same night as the awards ceremony.
Kelce's wife, Taylor Swift, is a prominent figure at this year's VMAs. She is nominated for 11 awards and is set to receive the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors. Swift will be in attendance at the event, which will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
This marks another significant event for Swift in a busy period. She recently released the deluxe edition of her 2025 album, "The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore," which includes four new songs: "Patient Zero," "Cleveland!," "Pink Clouding," and "Babylon." The music video for her new single, "Patient Zero," featuring Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell, is slated for its debut during the VMAs.
Kelce and Swift, who married in July, made their first joint appearance at an awards show as a couple at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards in March. At that event, Swift acknowledged Kelce in her acceptance speech for Pop Album of the Year, calling him the "love of my life."
