Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was seen on video slapping away a fan's hand that was attempting to take his glove as he walked off the field before the team's season opener against the Denver Broncos.
The incident occurred as Kelce was interacting with fans, offering fist bumps, when the spectator reached out and tugged at his glove. Kelce reacted immediately by swatting the fan's hand away and scolding them.
Social media reactions to the video were divided, with some users questioning Kelce's action and others defending him. One comment suggested that Kelce shouldn't have held the glove in that hand, while another user thought the fan might have misconstrued the gesture, believing Kelce was offering the glove.
Kelce, 36, and the Chiefs went on to win the game against the Broncos with a score of 31 to 10 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
Kelce was supported at the game by his wife, Taylor Swift, as well as his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce. This marked the first NFL game the couple attended since their July wedding. Swift was seen wearing a red-and-cream gingham polo dress and was seated near actor Tom Cruise.
