Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has begun his preseason training regimen in Florida, marking a return to football activities following his recent wedding. Kelce was seen working out with friends in the Sunshine State, preparing for the upcoming NFL season. He was observed wearing his wedding band post-workout and was dressed in Nike athletic apparel.
Training camp for the Chiefs is scheduled to begin in 12 days. Kelce, who will turn 37 in the fall, is entering his 14th NFL season. The team officially re-signed the four-time All-Pro tight end in March to a one-year deal worth $12 million, with potential incentives reaching $15 million. This contract allows him to continue his career rather than retire after a season that saw the Chiefs finish with a 6-11 record and miss the playoffs.
Recently, Kelce was ranked as the 79th best player in the NFL according to a poll of his peers, a significant drop from his No. 37 ranking a year prior. This decline in ranking coincides with the Chiefs' challenging 2025 season, which contrasted sharply with their previous success, having appeared in four of the five preceding Super Bowls. Kelce himself commented on the offseason process during an appearance on 'The Pat McAfee Show,' stating, "You always need to take a step back, breathe and let the emotions of the season settle down and see where the body is." He added, "Man, I'm still in love with this game. I still love going to work, putting on the pads, grinding it out and just playing the game."
Kelce had previously indicated his desire to continue playing for Kansas City, stating at the NFL scouting combine that his "best opportunity was playing for the Chiefs yet again and running this thing back." He expressed his affection for the team's players and staff, looking forward to returning to the facility.
