Travis Kelce Responds to Prince William's Joke About Viral Taylor Swift Selfie
The NFL star took Prince William's playful confession about trying to get him out of a photo in stride.
Travis Kelce has shared his thoughts on Prince William's playful admission that he attempted to maneuver Kelce out of a viral selfie with Taylor Swift. The NFL player addressed the remark on the latest episode of his "New Heights" podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.
"I get it, man," Travis Kelce said, referencing his status at the time of the photo. "I was just a boyfriend at that point. I wasn’t her husband yet."
Kelce, 37, further quipped that the Prince of Wales, 44, might have been thinking, "We don’t really know if this is going to last, so can you just kind of move out of the way really quick? So we can keep this photo forever?"
Prince William had recounted the incident on "The Graham Norton Show," explaining that he was trying to orchestrate a photo with Swift and his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who were also present. "Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn’t work out why he kept coming back in," William said. "I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children!"
The photo, taken backstage at the Eras Tour in London in June 2024, gained significant attention. It marked a notable moment in Swift and Kelce's relationship, being one of the first instances they had publicly posted each other on social media since their romance began in mid-2024. Swift later shared the selfie on her Instagram.
William admitted on "The Graham Norton Show" that he hadn't fully grasped the significance of the photo at the time. During the concert, he was observed dancing to Swift's hit song "Shake It Off." His wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, and their youngest son, Prince Louis, were not in attendance.
Swift and Kelce reportedly became engaged in August 2025 and later married on July 3, 2026.
