Travis Kelce has acknowledged the viral moment where his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, pointed to her ring and appeared to say "that's my husband" after he scored a touchdown. Kelce discussed the incident on his "New Heights" podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce.
During the Chiefs' 33-30 overtime victory against the Colts on Sunday night, cameras captured Swift's reaction to Kelce's 13-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. The moment quickly spread across social media, generating numerous memes.
"Just doing my deed as a husband," Travis Kelce said on the podcast, referencing the viral clip and the online reaction. "The internet is having a good ole time with this s—t." He also added, "Proud wife, gotta make my girl proud."
Some of the memes that drew particular amusement from the Kelce brothers included: "Me when my husband actually finds all the right stuff at the grocery story" and "How I want my wife to react when I fix the WiFi by plugging it out and back in."
Kelce has had a strong start to the season, contributing to the Chiefs' 2-0 record. He has recorded 12 catches for 172 yards and one touchdown. Chiefs coach Andy Reid has attributed some of Kelce's revitalized performance to Swift's presence, noting her attendance at the team's home primetime games.
"Everybody questioned with the wedding and all of that — ‘would he be out of shape and honeymooning the whole time [in the offseason]?’ and all of that," Reid said, according to KSHB 41 News. "But he really works his rear end off and I think Taylor, you’re putting on four-hour shows, you’ve got to work hard too. So, I’m sure she kicks him in the butt a little there too."
The Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins in their next game. It remains uncertain whether Swift will attend the away game, as she has previously opted out of some road contests due to security concerns and her demanding schedule.
