Travis Kelce Likes Controversial Shane Gillis 'SNL' Monologue Video

Travis Kelce has "liked" a video of comedian Shane Gillis' "Saturday Night Live" monologue, a move that comes as Gillis faces criticism for his remarks about women during the broadcast. The NFL star's social media engagement was noted on the NBC show's Instagram account featuring Gillis' six-minute opening.

A source close to Kelce told Page Six that the athlete is "always been a massive fan of the show and he was supporting a friend." Kelce himself has hosted "SNL" and made a cameo appearance with Taylor Swift in March 2023.

Gillis' monologue, which aired over the weekend, drew backlash for comments he made regarding women's attire at the gym. He stated, "I haven’t been to the gym in so long, I didn’t realize women just dressed like whores now," and described gym wear as "neon" and "like artificial bait color."

This is not the first time Gillis has faced controversy in connection with "SNL." He was cast on the show in 2019 but was fired within a week after past podcast comments surfaced, in which he used racist and homophobic slurs.

In June, Gillis made a guest appearance at the Tight End University (TEU) summit in Nashville, an event hosted by Kelce and fellow NFL players George Kittle and Greg Olsen. Gillis joined the trio onstage and participated in post-event celebrations.

While Gillis' monologue has been criticized by public figures like Dan Levy, who called the comedian a "misogynist," others have defended him. Radio host Bobby Bones stated on his podcast that he found the monologue "pretty funny" and "got to respect that he takes chances up there."

"SNL" alum Ego Nwodim and singer Maren Morris have also spoken out against Gillis' remarks on social media.
