A trash truck fire caused significant disruptions on a critical Los Angeles freeway connector Tuesday morning, leading to a ramp closure and heavy smoke in the area. The blaze occurred around 6:00 a.m. on the ramp connecting the southbound 405 Freeway to the southbound 110 Freeway in Gardena.
The truck caught fire, and the driver was compelled to dump the burning load onto the right shoulder of the road. Fire crews responded to extinguish the flames, which produced a large plume of smoke visible over the freeway.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident led to the closure of the southbound 405-to-110 connector. Other transition ramps at the busy interchange remained open.
