The summer transfer window is officially open until September 1, signaling a period of potential significant player movement across football clubs. Among the early developments, Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly attracting interest from two unnamed Champions League clubs. Garnacho, a former Manchester United winger, joined his current club last August for a fee that could reach £40 million, including a 10% sell-on clause.
In other transfer news, Newcastle United has reportedly agreed to a deal worth £19.6 million with Ajax for the promising midfielder Sean Steur. This fee could rise to £22.6 million with add-ons for the 18-year-old, who is expected to sign a five-year contract. Steur, a Netherlands Under-19 international, has made 25 appearances for Ajax and is considered a highly-rated talent. The deal comes as Ajax seeks to strengthen its squad and potentially move on other young midfielders.
Elsewhere, Burnley left back Quilindschy Hartman has been loaned to Spanish side Espanyol for the season. Hartman joined Burnley in June 2025 from Feyenoord and made 21 Premier League appearances last season, contributing five assists.
Ipswich Town is also nearing a deal for Toulouse striker Emersonn. While Hull City had initially shown interest, Ipswich is finalizing terms for a transfer that could be worth just under £20 million including bonuses. Toulouse is also seeking a sell-on clause as part of the agreement. Emersonn is expected to undergo his medical and could become the first signing under Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil.
