Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw announced this weekend that she is "feeling blessed" and that her tumors are gone, sharing a positive update on her breast cancer battle. The 53-year-old actress, known for her role as Maxine Peacock in the ITV soap, took to Instagram to inform her followers about her latest operation.
Shaw was diagnosed with breast cancer in April after discovering a lump. She underwent her fourth round of chemotherapy last month.
"The tumours are out, they're gone!" Shaw declared in a video update. "I'm feeling great, it all went well." She expressed gratitude for the messages and support she has received, stating that they "greatly received and really helped me through it all."
She also thanked the hospital staff, including three surgeons, nurses, and all the other personnel involved in her care, noting she had a "best cup of tea and slice of toast" after recovering from surgery.
Previously, Shaw had shared that doctors were unable to operate until her tumors had shrunk. In a tearful video last month, she explained that ultrasounds showed the lesions on her left breast had changed shape from circular to oval but had not decreased in size. She also checked on a lump in her right breast, which was found to be a benign cyst.
Shaw played Maxine Peacock on Coronation Street from 1995 to 2003. Her character was known for storylines involving betrayal and her eventual murder. After leaving the soap, Shaw appeared in other ITV dramas and has primarily focused on theater work.
