Coronation Street actress Tracy Shaw, 53, has shared an update on her cancer treatment, opting to highlight moments of joy rather than dwelling on the difficulties she is experiencing. Diagnosed with breast cancer in April after discovering a lump, Shaw has been undergoing treatment, including her fourth round of chemotherapy.

In a recent social media post, Shaw described the "pain and suffering" associated with her treatment but stated her intention to share the "moments of joy" she finds. These moments include watching sunsets and sunrises, spending time with her dogs, and appreciating flowers in her garden. Shaw wrote that amidst the challenges, she has had to "dig deep into the constant spiritual growth, to creation and its wonders." She added that while "knowing what's coming each cycle doesn't make it easier," she is "trusting the process," acknowledging the agony but focusing on "keeping it in the day."

She also expressed gratitude for connecting with others on a similar journey, referring to them as "life sisters." Shaw recently celebrated her 53rd birthday, expressing that she had "never been as grateful to be alive on a birthday." She shared photos with her brother Karl and son Luca, 19, and thanked a gift from a breast cancer survivor.

Last week, Shaw revealed that her breast cancer is currently inoperable because the tumors have not yet shrunk sufficiently. Following an ultrasound, she explained that while the lesions on her left breast had changed shape from circular to oval, they had not reduced in size. She noted that the lumps found in her right breast were cysts, which she considered good news.

Shaw began chemotherapy in May, the month after her diagnosis. In an earlier video, she expressed the toll the diagnosis had taken, admitting, "I can't go through this anymore." She described the difficulty of waking each morning knowing she had to go to the hospital for more news, calling it "unknown." Shaw shared that she would be starting her chemotherapy journey the following week, with 50 percent of her wanting to "get going" to address the cancer.

In preparation for chemotherapy, Shaw also had much of her hair cut off, anticipating hair loss as a common side effect. Shaw is widely recognized for her role as Maxine Peacock on Coronation Street from 1995 to 2003. Her character was notably murdered by Richard Hillman. After leaving the soap, Shaw pursued smaller roles in television dramas and spent considerable time in theatre. She also had a brief pop music career in the late 1990s.
