A simple request for more thoroughly cooked eggs led to a disturbing discovery on a restaurant bill for a Brazilian tourist in Italy. Maria Clara reported that a server at Victor Lab, a restaurant in Romagna, allegedly wrote an offensive message on her receipt instructing the chef to "burn the eggs and spit in them."
Clara and her family were dining at the restaurant on August 19 when she noticed her scrambled eggs were undercooked. She politely asked the server if they could be cooked a bit more. According to Clara, the server responded dismissively, claiming they "don't make raw eggs here." Although the eggs were eventually served, Clara stated she did not ask for them to be recooked and let the matter go to avoid an argument. She also noted that a salad was included with her order despite her request to omit it.
Upon reviewing her receipt, Clara discovered the offensive note. Initially believing it might be a prank, she and her family grew concerned about the possibility of their food being tampered with. Clara reported that the server, a 17-year-old employee, became visibly nervous upon being confronted and admitted it was a "joke between him and the chef." The server reportedly attempted to discard the receipt, but Clara threatened to contact the police if he did.
The restaurant later issued an apology to Clara under her Google review, stating that the server's behavior was "absolutely inappropriate" and did not align with their standards. They identified the perpetrator as a teenage employee with only a few weeks of experience but emphasized that this did not lessen the severity of the incident.
However, the situation became more complex when Victor Lab posted a video on its TikTok account that appeared to mock the incident. The video depicted a customer demanding food with "spit" and included a poll asking whether the server should be fired. Clara expressed her distress, stating that the incident was "serious" and not a laughing matter, especially as she had received threats and insults following the news.
