Tour Bus Involved in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Yarra Ranges, Multiple Injuries Reported
Emergency services are responding to a significant multi-vehicle incident involving a tour bus in the Yarra Ranges, with at least 18 patients being treated.
Paramedics are treating at least 18 people following a bus crash in the Yarra Ranges.
Emergency services were called to the Melba Highway at Glenburn about 2:40 p.m. on Thursday after reports of a collision involving a bus. Unconfirmed reports suggest at least one person died in the crash. The number of vehicles involved and the total number of passengers on the bus remain unclear.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed that at least 18 patients were being treated at the scene. Mobile Intensive Care Ambulances and Advanced Life Support paramedics were dispatched to the incident. Photos circulating on social media depict the bus partially down an embankment beside the highway.
"Our paramedics' priority is with their patients. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available," stated Ambulance Victoria.
The Melba Highway has been closed between Yea and Healesville-Kinglake Road in Castella as emergency crews manage the scene.
