Torrance Transit is introducing a budget-friendly transportation service for fans attending Los Angeles Rams and Chargers games at SoFi Stadium during the 2026 NFL season. For $4, fans can secure a round-trip bus ticket to the stadium, with the added benefit of free parking at the Mary K. Giordano Regional Transit Center.

This initiative stands in contrast to the rising costs associated with attending sporting events and the general cost of living in Southern California. Consumer prices in the Los Angeles area have seen a 3.4 percent increase over the past 12 months, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Furthermore, SoFi Stadium itself acknowledges a “limited” on-site parking inventory, directing many attendees toward public transit and park-and-ride options. During the 2026 World Cup, parking at SoFi Stadium sometimes reached as high as $300.

The Torrance Transit service operates with departures beginning approximately three hours before kickoff and concluding about 30 minutes prior to game time. Return buses will be available for up to 90 minutes following the game's conclusion. The transit center offers 250 free parking spaces, but the city suggests carpooling, ridesharing, or utilizing its Connect Torrance microtransit service for those who need alternative arrangements.

This program arrives as Los Angeles continues to grapple with its reputation as a car-centric city, despite significant investments in public transit infrastructure. The 2026 World Cup highlighted the potential for increased public transportation usage, with one match alone recording nearly 50,000 rail rides and over 30,000 rides on special shuttles serving SoFi Stadium. This event served as an early test for the city's ambitions to rely more heavily on public transit leading up to the 2028 Olympics.

Torrance's transit option offers a direct route from the South Bay to SoFi Stadium, simplifying the journey for fans. The city also promotes its 15 hotels and the direct game-day bus service, potentially making it an attractive base for out-of-town visitors seeking more affordable accommodation options near the stadium.

While this single bus route may not completely alter Los Angeles's car-dependent identity, the $4 round trip with free parking represents a notable value for fans navigating the region's increasing expenses.
