Tori Spelling has described her experience filming the 2003 science fiction comedy "Evil Alien Conquerors" as the worst of her career, recounting how persistent criticism from the director led her to ask for her name to be removed from the film's credits.
During an appearance on Stephen Baldwin's "One Bad Movie" podcast, Spelling, 53, shared that she clashed with the film's writer and director, Chris Matheson. She felt that Matheson "hated" her during the production, which significantly impacted her willingness to continue with the project.
"Every time! He would say it out loud across all the other actors and everyone in the room and I'd be shuddering," Spelling recalled, describing Matheson's frequent critiques of her performance. The actress stated that the situation became so difficult that she wished to be "fired" from the movie.
"I was like, 'Just fire me and recast. This is so hard on me,'" she said. "I went to set every day just like a puddle of... I don't know. I watched it. I'm fine in it, but I'm like, 'Oh, I wish I had done more with it.'"
Spelling, who is widely recognized for her role as Donna Martin in "Beverly Hills, 90210," took on the part of an alien in human disguise in "Evil Alien Conquerors." The film also starred Diedrich Bader and Chris Parnell as aliens tasked with beheading humanity. Spelling described her character as having a "big furry unibrow and furry feet."
Despite the comedic nature of the film, Spelling felt Matheson did not appreciate her performance. "It was a comedy. It was just like a goofy comedy. He just didn't like me. And I'm like, 'That's okay,'" she stated.
As a result of her negative experience, Spelling asked that her name not be included in the film's credits. "So if you look it up, it doesn't credit me," she confirmed on the podcast.
When reached for comment by People, Matheson stated, "I'm sorry she felt that way. I like Tori personally. I just think we have some different ideas about comedy."
This recollection follows Spelling's recent departure from the "90210MG" rewatch podcast, which she co-hosted with former castmate Jennie Garth. Spelling announced in July that she was leaving to "assess, really reflect" and share her experiences thoughtfully.
