Tori Spelling has broken her silence regarding rumors of a feud with former "Beverly Hills, 90210" co-star Jennie Garth, following Spelling's sudden exit from their rewatch podcast. The actress addressed the situation during an Instagram Live session with fellow former "90210" cast member Brian Austin Green.
When asked about her relationship with Garth, Spelling stated that she wishes to discuss the matter "in a thoughtful way, rather than being reactive." She indicated a plan to "really take the time to really assess, really reflect" before offering a more in-depth explanation. Spelling encouraged viewers to continue listening to Garth and producer Amy Sugarman, who has taken over as co-host.
The "90210MG" podcast, launched in 2020, revisits episodes of the popular 1990s teen drama series, which also starred Green, Shannen Doherty, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, and Luke Perry.
Spelling and Garth were in the midst of recapping season 8 of the 10-season show when Spelling announced her departure in late July. At the time, she cited pursuing other opportunities and maintained a cordial tone, encouraging fans to continue following the podcast. Garth expressed sadness over Spelling not completing the series with her, acknowledging that they started the podcast together. She also stated she was "really happy" for Spelling's decision "to choose herself."
Producer Amy Sugarman confirmed that Spelling's exit was entirely her decision, adding that while they were "bummed and disappointed" she would not be co-hosting for the remaining seasons, they still wished her happiness and excitement for her future endeavors.
Spelling has previously spoken about her long-standing friendship with Garth, telling People magazine in 2020 that they had been friends for 30 years and had navigated significant life changes together. The podcast was initially conceived as a "girlfriends podcast" that blended their personal friendship with their "90210" experience for fans. Garth also shared a heartfelt social media tribute to Spelling for her 50th birthday in May 2023, reminiscing about their enduring bond and shared history.
