As the holiday season approaches, consumer interest in fragrance is peaking, with the final quarter of the year accounting for nearly as much in perfume sales as the rest of the year combined. According to predictions from The Perfume Shop, Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle is set to be the most sought-after fragrance for women this Christmas.
Coco Mademoiselle, first launched in 2001, is described as an oriental floral fragrance. Its top notes include orange, mandarin orange, orange blossom, and bergamot. The middle notes feature mimosa, jasmine, Turkish rose, and ylang-ylang, with a base of tonka bean, patchouli, opoponax, vanilla, vetiver, and white musk. The perfume is priced at £78.
Following closely behind Coco Mademoiselle is Prada Paradoxe Eau de Parfum at £75. Gucci's new floral scent, Gorgeous Orchid Intense, also secured a spot in the top five, priced at £78. Other predicted popular fragrances for women include YSL Libre, launched in 2019, and Carolina Herrera's La Bomba Eau de Parfum, which costs £67.
For men, the predictions highlight Hugo Boss' BOSS Bottled Beyond Eau de Toilette (£76) and Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF Le Parfum (£105). Prada also made the cologne list with its Paradigme Parfum (£102), taking third place.
The top predicted fragrances for men are rounded out by Armani I WILL Eau de Parfum (£25) and Dior Sauvage (£89). Johnny Depp has been a long-term ambassador for Dior Sauvage, with a significant deal reportedly signed in 2023.
These fragrance predictions coincide with other holiday shopping forecasts, such as Argos' annual list of anticipated popular toys. This year's toy predictions include a mix of nostalgic items like vinyl record players and classic brands such as Lego and Hot Wheels, alongside interactive toys and characters from popular films and shows.
