Drake Ladon Keef, 32, who was listed among the Floyd County Sheriff's Office's Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives, was apprehended Wednesday in Bartow County, Georgia, concluding a manhunt tied to the investigation into the death of Stevie Marie Thompson.

Keef faced warrants for aggravated battery, hit-and-run, and driving with a suspended license, which Floyd County police stated were connected to the case of Thompson, 35. The incident resulting in Thompson's death occurred in Rome, Georgia, between midnight and 1 a.m. on August 22. Details regarding the circumstances of Thompson's death and Keef's alleged role have not yet been disclosed by authorities. The cause and manner of her death also remain undisclosed, and it is unclear if Thompson and Keef knew each other.

Following the identification of Keef as a suspect, warrants were issued for his arrest, and he was subsequently placed on the sheriff's office's Most Wanted list. The public was cautioned against approaching him.

The search concluded with Keef's capture, facilitated by deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office. Officials have not yet released information on where Keef was found or the specifics of his apprehension. The sheriff's office expressed gratitude to the assisting deputies and community members who provided information.

As the investigation into Thompson's death continues, her family is organizing a fundraiser for funeral expenses and remembering her as an organ donor. A GoFundMe page established in her memory had raised nearly $4,000 toward an $8,000 goal as of Thursday. The fundraiser also seeks support for Thompson's children and other relatives.

Major questions surrounding Thompson's death remain unanswered, and police have not revealed the evidence that led them to Keef or whether additional charges may be filed. The Floyd County Sheriff's Office has not yet provided further details. Keef is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail.
