Body camera footage from Tony Romo's recent arrest for alleged operating while under the influence (OWI) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, shows the former NFL quarterback struggling with field sobriety tests. The video, obtained by Page Six, depicts Romo at the police station where officers explain he needs to perform the tests due to driving behavior, "red glassy eyes and the odor of an intoxicating alcoholic beverage on your breath."
Before beginning, Romo asks to stretch and proceeds to do so on the hood of a police car. During the tests, he appears to botch them and asks officers to repeat the instructions. When asked if he understood, Romo responded, "No, there's too many."
Romo was stopped on Thursday while traveling southbound on I-43. He was booked and released shortly after, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. FOX6 News was the first to report the incident. Court documents obtained by The California Post indicate that Romo was subsequently cited for allegedly "refusing to take test for intoxication after arrest."
The retired Dallas Cowboys quarterback is scheduled for an intake in court on September 21. In Wisconsin, a first-time OWI charge is typically considered a civil offense and may result in a fine between $150 and $300. This incident marks Romo's first arrest.
Romo played for the Dallas Cowboys from 2006 to 2016 before retiring in April 2017. He is now the lead NFL game color analyst for CBS Sports. He was previously known for his high-profile relationships and is married to Candice Crawford, with whom he has three sons.
