Tony Hawk Ejected From Public Plaza While Filming Video Tribute
The skateboarding legend was asked to leave Pershing Square in Los Angeles during a shoot for the 25th anniversary of 'Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3'.
Skateboarding icon Tony Hawk reported being removed from Pershing Square in Los Angeles while filming a video tribute to the 25th anniversary of his game, "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3." Hawk shared the incident on Instagram, accompanying a video that recreates scenes from the classic game.
The footage shows Hawk skating through the downtown Los Angeles landmark, passing its distinctive red spheres and a nearby car wash, before transitioning to gameplay footage from the video game. The game itself was released on October 30, 2001, and became the first in the franchise to feature online play. It also introduced the "revert" trick, enabling players to link tricks.
A remake of the game was later included in the 2025 release of "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4." The incident sparked humorous reactions on social media, with some users joking about security guards finally encountering the real Tony Hawk and others referencing the meme of Hawk's experiences with people who doubt his identity.
"Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3" sold approximately 7.53 million copies worldwide. The social media reaction to Hawk's post highlighted nostalgia for the game, with users recalling its impact on their introduction to skateboarding and music.
