Tommy Tune Slashes Price on Manhattan Penthouse by $1 Million

Legendary choreographer, performer, actor, and director Tommy Tune has reduced the asking price of his Manhattan penthouse, known as The Tower, by another $1 million, bringing the current listing price to $1.99 million. This marks a significant decrease from its original asking price of $2.99 million earlier in 2025 and its most recent price of $2.15 million.

Compass listing broker Brian K. Lewis described the price chop as making the Sutton Place spread "more reasonably priced now."

Tune purchased the penthouse at 400 E. 52nd St., located on a cul-de-sac between First Avenue and the East River, for approximately $1.3 million in 2007. The 900-square-foot apartment features high ceilings, nearly 14 feet tall, and large windows.

A notable feature of the property is its 1,800-square-foot wraparound terrace, which the listing describes as being larger than most New York City apartments. The terrace includes an outdoor shower and ample space for entertaining. Tune has hosted numerous events on the terrace over the years, including parties for Broadway colleagues and figures from the fashion industry.

Inside, the penthouse boasts an open kitchen, one bedroom, and a spa-like bathroom. Design elements include oak plank floors and built-in features. A custom art ladder is present to display Tune's 10 Tony Awards. He has utilized the space as a creative retreat, reportedly painting over 100 artworks there.

The apartment comes with charming outdoor access to the terrace.

At 87 years old, Tune continues to travel and maintains another nearby apartment. He has spoken fondly of his neighborhood, describing it as a street where he encounters notable figures like Uma Thurman and filmmaker James Ivory while walking his dog, Harry Connick Jr.
