Tommy Robinson, an anti-immigration activist, has stated he was incorrect in accusing a man of filming children in a Glasgow park. The man in question, UK-born Quoroum Beg, was reportedly filming an anti-immigration demonstration.
According to reports, Beg had taken his children to a park on a Sunday evening when an anti-immigration demonstration approached. Amidst the commotion, which included a helicopter overhead and protesters with banners, Beg removed his children from the park. He returned to retrieve his car, at which point he stated protesters were chanting slogans like "close the borders, save our children" and directing them at him.
Beg then began filming the protesters with his mobile phone. After police advised him that doing so might escalate the situation, he sat on children's swings. Demonstrators then filmed Beg and posted the video online. This footage was shared by Robinson to his followers, with accompanying text alleging Beg was "filming kids" and calling him a "nonce."
In a subsequent statement, Robinson admitted he had "got it wrong."
