Drummer Tommy Lee has spoken candidly about his experiences working as a male escort before achieving fame with the rock band Mötley Crüe.
In a conversation on Dax Shepard's podcast Armchair Expert, Lee, 63, recounted how he and his bandmates moved into an apartment and met a woman who served as a madame. This led to opportunities to accompany older women on dates.
Lee explained that these engagements varied, sometimes involving just dinner and conversation, while other times they included sexual activity. He noted that he earned $500 per date, which was a significant improvement from the $20 per week he and his bandmates were receiving from their manager at the time.
He estimated he went on "nine or 10" such dates. Lee also mentioned on Theo Von's podcast that he worked as an escort for approximately a year. He shared that while he preferred dates that were just for dinner and entertainment, other encounters were less desirable.
Lee's career with Mötley Crüe, formed in 1981, led to international success. He was famously married to Pamela Anderson from 1998 to 2008, with whom he has two sons, Brandon and Dylan. Anderson detailed aspects of their relationship in her 2023 memoir Love, Pamela, referencing Lee's past and their tumultuous relationship, which included an incident where Lee pleaded no contest to felony spousal battery and served four months of a six-month sentence. Lee has been married to his fourth wife, Brittany Furlan, since 2019.
