Fox News host Tomi Lahren has blamed the Republican Party for an observed increase in Americans turning towards socialism. Lahren stated on social media that the GOP's perceived failures have made even "destructive economic models" seem appealing to people struggling with the cost of living.

Lahren specifically referenced "middle class working families who don’t indulge on luxuries and just try to make it with a little leftover each month." Her remarks come amidst a trend of progressive candidates gaining traction in primary races and growing dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump's handling of economic issues, including affordability.

The criticism highlights a divide within the Republican Party, as some members remain loyal to the president despite scrutiny over his administration's policies. This scrutiny includes the war in Iran, which has led to American service member casualties and a significant increase in gas prices. As of Tuesday, the national average price for a gallon of gas was $4.01, an increase of over $1 since the conflict began, according to AAA. The Economic Research Service projects that grocery prices will see an approximate 2.7% increase for the remainder of 2026, despite claims from the president that they are declining.

In a follow-up post, Lahren suggested that politicians advocating for the prolonged war in Iran might be invested in the "military industrial complex" and are unconcerned with the rising costs at the pump and grocery store because they are benefiting financially. She characterized the current political establishment as an "abomination," stating that outside of a few exceptions like Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.), the GOP is an "utter embarrassment."

This is not the first time Lahren has voiced strong criticism of her own party. Ahead of the midterm elections, she questioned the value of voting Republican, arguing that voters often end up with "Democrat policy anyway" despite casting a Republican ballot.
