Tom Parker Bowles Credits Hot Sauce for Health Benefits
The Queen's son and food critic revealed his "miracle ingredient" and its potential impact on metabolism and weight loss.

Tom Parker Bowles, son of Queen Camilla and a noted food critic, has identified Tabasco sauce as a key "miracle ingredient" due to its surprising health and weight loss benefits.
During an appearance on nutritionist Gabriela Peacock's podcast, "Don't Judge Me," Parker Bowles, 51, shared his affinity for the hot sauce, explaining that he carries it with him even when traveling due to the typically poor quality of airline food. He described Tabasco as "culinary first aid" and praised chili peppers for their dual capacity to provide pleasure and possess medicinal properties.
Peacock, who founded the supplement brand GP Nutrition and has advised clients such as Princess Beatrice, corroborated Parker Bowles's claims. She highlighted that chili peppers, the primary ingredient in Tabasco, are rich in capsaicin.
Capsaicin, the compound responsible for the heat in chili peppers, has been linked to several health advantages. According to Peacock, capsaicin is an antioxidant and contains polyphenols that can help suppress inflammation. Additionally, it is known to speed up metabolism, which could contribute to weight loss.
Studies suggest that capsaicin can help curb appetite and slightly increase the body's calorie expenditure. The sauce itself is made with only three ingredients: tabasco peppers, distilled vinegar, and salt.
Parker Bowles also touched upon his efforts to adopt a healthier lifestyle, admitting that he attempts to abstain from alcohol on certain days of the week. He noted that while he tries to limit his intake, especially as winter approaches, he sometimes struggles to adhere to these resolutions, particularly during the summer months.
