Tom Kim captured the Genesis Scottish Open title on Sunday, marking his first PGA Tour victory since October 2023. The 24-year-old South Korean closed with a final-round 64, tied for the day's low score, to earn his third PGA Tour win.
Kim had a strong performance throughout the tournament at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland. He opened with a 65 and followed it with a 66 in the second round, sharing the halfway lead with Rory McIlroy and Jordan Smith. Despite fog delays that pushed third-round play into Sunday morning, Kim maintained his momentum with a 68, while McIlroy and Smith carded 73 and 72, respectively.
Entering the final round one shot behind leader Matt Fitzpatrick, Kim quickly moved ahead with birdies on three of his first seven holes. Min Woo Lee mounted a late challenge, narrowing Kim's lead to one shot, but Kim extended his advantage with a birdie on the par-4 16th hole, ultimately securing the victory.
The win provides significant benefits for Kim, including automatic berths into the 2027 Masters and PGA Championship, which he had not qualified for prior to this victory. His third-place finish at the U.S. Open previously earned him an exemption into the 2027 U.S. Open. This victory also gives Kim momentum heading into the 2026 Open Championship, where he has had mixed results in recent years.
Kim has achieved consistent performance this season, making the cut in 15 of 17 events, alongside his Scottish Open win and U.S. Open performance. He previously achieved early success, winning his first two PGA Tour events at age 20, becoming the youngest player since Tiger Woods to win twice before turning 21. However, he experienced a quieter period following his third victory in 2023, with limited top-10 finishes in 2024 and 2025 and a subsequent struggle with consistency. The Genesis Scottish Open victory suggests a resurgence for the young golfer as he prepares for the 2026 Open Championship.
Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler missed the cut at the Scottish Open, ending a streak of nearly four years without missing a PGA Tour cut.
