Tom Hiddleston Discusses Fatherhood and Fitness
The actor shares rare insights into his role as a father and the importance of staying in shape for his children.
Tom Hiddleston has spoken about the profound privilege of fatherhood, sharing rare personal insights into his role as a parent in a recent interview with Men's Health UK. The actor, who has two children with fiancée Zawe Ashton, emphasized the importance of maintaining physical fitness to keep up with his young family.
"I want to be fit and strong for my children," Hiddleston stated. "I’m so aware that they are watching me and I’m a model for them. It’s such a privilege to be someone’s father. And I mean that humbly. It’s such an honour to live up to what that means."
He elaborated on his motivation to stay active, explaining his desire to introduce his children to the joys of movement and physical activity. "I want to keep up with them. I want to play with them," he said, adding that he looks forward to activities like carrying them, running, playing football, swimming, and throwing them in the air. This desire to engage fully in his children's lives fuels his commitment to staying healthy.
Hiddleston, who appeared on the cover of Men's Health UK displaying his biceps, also touched upon the meditative benefits of running, describing it as his "happy place" where he engages in his best thinking and problem-solving.
The couple, who began their relationship in 2019, maintain a private family life and have not publicly shared the names or genders of their children. They welcomed their first child in October 2022, and a second child in November 2025. Hiddleston previously described becoming a parent as a "life-altering" experience.
Hiddleston and Ashton, who starred together in the play "Betrayal," first met in 2019. Their relationship became public with their red carpet debut at the Tony Awards in September 2021, followed by news of their engagement in March 2022.
