Tom Cruise embraced a dramatic transformation for his role as Digger Rockwell, an oil tycoon who accidentally triggers a global ecological crisis in the upcoming film "Digger." The 64-year-old actor attended the Los Angeles premiere of the film, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, alongside co-stars Jessica Alba and Emma D'Arcy.
Cruise, typically recognized for his high-octane stunts, sports a significantly altered appearance in "Digger," including thinning white hair and a prosthetic pot belly, as seen in the film's trailer. He also adopts a thick Southern accent for the character. "The transformation he went through was astonishing," Iñárritu remarked about Cruise's performance. "And I think we both know what it means to carry an entire career into a single moment like this."
The film's tagline describes it as "a comedy of catastrophic proportions," and the trailer suggests Cruise's character is tasked by the U.S. President, played by John Goodman, to save the planet. Fans have reacted positively to the trailer, with some predicting an Oscar nomination for Cruise's performance.
At the premiere, Cruise wore a tailored black suit with a black button-up shirt. He was joined by Jessica Alba, who sported a black suit with her jacket open to reveal a bra, and Emma D'Arcy, who made a fashion statement in an oversized white blazer, pink belt, and blue-spotted pants.
Other attendees included Kerry Condon, who arrived in a black dress, and Kirsten Dunst, accompanied by her husband and co-star Jesse Plemons. John Goodman also made a rare appearance with his wife, Anna Beth Goodman. German actress Sandra Hüller, Sofia Boutella, Riz Ahmed with his wife Fatima Farheen Mirza, and Nancy Cartwright were also present.
