Tom Cruise Recreates 'Risky Business' Dance on Jennifer Hudson Show
The 64-year-old actor surprised fans by performing iconic dance moves from his 1983 film during a promotional appearance.
Tom Cruise brought back his signature moves from "Risky Business" during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Tuesday. The actor, 64, visited the talk show to promote his new film "Digger."
Before his interview, Cruise participated in the show's "Spirit Tunnel" segment, where staff line a hallway to welcome celebrity guests with a custom song. For Cruise's entrance, the crew wore black sunglasses and performed a rendition of "Old Time Rock & Roll," the song he famously danced to in his underwear in the 1983 movie.
The revamped lyrics included lines like, "We've got Tom Cruise at the Happy Place. He's in the tunnel walking to the stage. He's a legend everybody knows. We've got that Tom Cruise rock and roll." Cruise, smiling, donned his own pair of shades and showcased his dance moves as he walked down the crowded hallway.
A video of the segment, shared on Instagram, quickly garnered over two million likes. Viewers took to the comments section, with many joking about the large turnout of employees for the event. "I ain’t never seen this many people in the hallway. I swear I saw my momma in there," one user commented, while another added, "Everyone showed up to work today!! Hahhahaaa love it."
Some crew members also shared their excitement, with one writing, "I can't believe I got to meet Tom Cruise at work today." While some fans playfully teased Cruise about his "dad dancing," others praised his apparent enjoyment of the experience.
Jennifer Hudson shared with Variety that she booked Cruise as a guest after a chance encounter at the World Cup final. She recalled asking him what he imagined his "Spirit Tunnel" would be like and what song they might sing for him. Cruise surprised her by revealing he was a regular viewer of her show and had watched her on "American Idol."
Cruise is currently on a global press tour for "Digger," directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. The film reportedly stars Cruise as eccentric oil tycoon Digger Rockwell, who attempts to rectify an ecological disaster he caused. John Goodman is slated to play the President of the United States in the movie.
