NFL insider Mike Florio has suggested that Tom Brady's recent public activities, including his involvement with WWE and expanding business portfolio, may be part of a larger strategy to pave the way for a political career. Florio speculated that Brady's recent clashes with wrestler Logan Paul and discussions about a WWE appearance could be an attempt to connect with a specific audience ahead of a potential run for office.
Florio, speaking on Wednesday, noted that the idea of Brady entering politics is not new. He cited reports from February 2024 by Puck, which claimed that Brady's former business partner, Sam Bankman-Fried, had encouraged the quarterback to consider a political career and even run against Donald Trump for the Republican nomination. Bankman-Fried, who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence for fraud related to the collapse of FTX, had reportedly been exploring this possibility as early as 2022.
Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl winner, was an ambassador for FTX and endorsed the cryptocurrency platform. While he lost the value of his FTX shares, Florio questioned why the association with Bankman-Fried has not more significantly impacted Brady's public image.
Florio argued that the current political landscape does not require extensive experience in government, suggesting that Brady's background in sports, business, and his extensive name recognition could make him a viable candidate. Brady is currently under a 10-year, $375 million contract as an NFL analyst for FOX and is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Since retiring from professional football in 2023, his business ventures have expanded, and he has promoted various commercial products. He has also maintained a public profile, including recent media reports linking him with influencer Alix Earle and his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen in late 2022.
