Tom Brady's Biographer Disputes Narrative of Split With Bridget Moynahan

A new biography on Tom Brady refutes a widely held belief about the timing of his separation from Bridget Moynahan and the beginning of his relationship with Gisele Bündchen. Author Lars Anderson, in his book "Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness," suggests that the timeline, when examined closely, does not support the narrative that Brady left Moynahan while she was pregnant for Bündchen.
Brady and Moynahan reportedly ended their nearly three-year relationship in December 2006. According to Anderson, Moynahan informed Brady of her pregnancy in February 2007, approximately two months after he had begun dating Bündchen. Anderson told Us Weekly that "the math" of the situation indicates the timeline "barely works in Tom’s favor."
Anderson's book asserts that the common portrayal of Brady leaving a pregnant Moynahan for Bündchen is inaccurate. He states that Brady's first date with Bündchen occurred in December 2006. An obstetrics nurse cited in the book indicated that Moynahan's conception date was likely in late November 2006, before Brady's first date with Bündchen.
Moynahan was reportedly "heartbroken" by the 2006 holiday season breakup. While Brady was two months into his relationship with Bündchen, he received a call from Moynahan revealing her pregnancy. This news, according to Anderson, sparked a "global media firestorm" that transformed a private matter into a public spectacle.
Bündchen, at the time, was reportedly unsure how to react, considering whether she should encourage Brady to support his former girlfriend and their child. However, Anderson writes that Bündchen ultimately chose to remain with Brady.
Moynahan gave birth to their son, Jack, in August 2007. Brady and Bündchen married in 2009 and later welcomed two children: Benjamin Rein Brady in December 2009 and Vivian Lake Brady in December 2012.
The book also touches on the later years of Brady's marriage to Bündchen, detailing efforts to save the relationship before their divorce in 2022. Sources cited in the biography claim Brady lost significant weight during the marital strain, and that Bündchen expressed feelings of incompatibility before the marriage ended.
