Tom Brady Mocks Justin Herbert's Interception on National Television
The NFL legend criticized the Chargers quarterback's throw during Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.
During the Los Angeles Chargers' recent loss to the Buffalo Bills, quarterback Justin Herbert's errant pass resulted in an interception and drew sharp criticism from Fox color analyst Tom Brady.
The critical play occurred in the fourth quarter of the game, which the Chargers ultimately lost 24-16. On a third-and-five situation, Herbert attempted a deep pass intended for Marquez Valdes-Scantling. The throw was intercepted in the end zone by Bills defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
Commenting on the play during the broadcast, Brady described Herbert's throw as having "poor awareness, poor decision. Throws him a meatball sub." This marked Herbert's fourth interception of the season as the Chargers fell to an 0-3 record.
Herbert's performance in the game included completing 20 of 34 passes for 226 yards and one touchdown, with two sacks taken in addition to the interception. The Chargers' offensive struggles were particularly evident in the red zone, where penalties contributed to them settling for a field goal instead of scoring a touchdown in the third quarter.
Prior to this game, the Chargers were among the NFL's lowest-scoring offenses, averaging just 14 points per game. Their defense, however, showed improvement against the Bills, limiting Josh Allen to 204 passing yards and a completion rate of 16 of 26.
The Chargers face a challenging upcoming schedule, with matchups against the Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs, Rams, Texans, and Ravens in their next six games.
