Tom Brady Explains On-Air Silence During Broadcast

Tom Brady acknowledged his role in a peculiar on-air silence during the Fox broadcast of the Eagles-Rams game on Sunday, attributing the disruption to an error he made with his headset.

During the broadcast, Brady abruptly stopped speaking, appearing confused by a lack of communication through his headset. When his broadcast partner, Kevin Burkhardt, inquired about the “mic issue,” Brady admitted that he had dropped his notes folder onto the talkback button used for communication with producers. This action inadvertently disabled his ability to hear and be heard.

“It’s my fault the whole time,” Brady stated, drawing laughter in the broadcast booth and from viewers. He likened the situation to a quarterback admitting to mistakes, a sentiment with which Burkhardt agreed.

Fans on social media reacted positively to Brady’s accountability. One X user commented, “Tom that’s why you won 7 super bowls accountability,” while another posted, “Tom Brady keeps it real in the booth, he really is the best in the game.”

Brady has been candid in his early broadcasting career. Earlier this season, his comments have included critiques of Justin Herbert's passes and exclamations during injury replays. He previously apologized for his language, acknowledging a lack of a filter and the potential reaction from a family audience.

Brady and Burkhardt are scheduled to call the 49ers-Cardinals game in Week 5.
