Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl winner, has drawn a parallel between Argentina's dramatic late-game comeback in the FIFA World Cup on Tuesday and the New England Patriots' historic 28-3 comeback victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI. Brady shared his sentiment on social media platform X following Argentina's 3-2 win against Egypt in Atlanta.
Argentina found itself trailing by two goals in the second half, with Egypt scoring in the 15th and 67th minutes. Lionel Messi netted a goal in the 83rd minute to narrow the deficit. Enzo Fernández then completed the comeback with a late header, securing Argentina's place in the quarterfinals. "Yeah so that might top 28-3," Brady posted on X, accompanied by a mind-blown emoji.
The match took place at Atlanta Stadium, which will revert to its regular name, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, after the World Cup semifinals. The stadium will also switch back from natural grass, installed for the tournament, to its usual artificial turf. The stadium is scheduled to host the Denver Broncos in a preseason game next month.
Argentina is set to face the winner of the Switzerland and Colombia match in the quarterfinals, scheduled for Saturday in Kansas City, Missouri. Switzerland and Colombia were scoreless at halftime of their Round of 16 game.
