A two-year-old girl was found unconscious in a swimming pool at her birthday party in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday night. Police were called to the Stadium Walk Apartments on Circle 75 Parkway around 9 p.m. after guests at the party spotted the child in the water.

Bystanders immediately pulled the girl from the pool and began CPR until she regained consciousness. The Cobb County Police Department and Marietta Fire EMTs provided medical care before she was transported to a local hospital. Authorities stated that no foul play is suspected in the incident.

This near-tragedy underscores a broader concern regarding child drownings. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children aged one to four years old. A report from Pool guard USA indicated that 81 percent of fatal child drownings occur in residential settings.

Recent incidents highlight the risks. In May 2025, three-year-old Trigg Kiser died six days after being found unresponsive in his family's backyard pool in Chandler, Arizona. His mother, social media influencer Emilie Kiser, later spoke about the incident, stating he had been left unsupervised for over nine minutes, with seven of those minutes spent submerged in the water.

In a separate incident on August 5, two-year-old Malachi LeBlanc was declared brain dead following a drowning accident at a community pool in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away on August 9. His mother reported that he had either fallen or jumped into the pool during a playdate and was pulled out by emergency medical services.
