Toddler Remembered as ‘Rambunctious Tot’ in Heartbreaking Obituary After Alleged Killing by Mother

Barrett Walsh, a 2-year-old boy allegedly killed by his mother, Corie Walsh, is being remembered as a “rambunctious” and joyful child in his obituary. Affectionately known as “Bear,” Barrett was found deceased on September 1 after his mother allegedly hanged him from the rafters in the basement of their Frankfort, Illinois, home.

His obituary describes him as a “joyful, funny, entertaining, rambunctious 2-year-old who loved singing and dancing to Super Simple Songs and Miss Rachel.” The toddler also enjoyed learning colors with characters like Pingfong and Hogi, kicking a soccer ball, and counting along to songs like “5 Little Duckies.”

Barrett was a “cherished little brother” to his siblings Grady and Anna, and a “caring big brother” to a baby boy. The obituary notes his active nature and positive outlook, mentioning his love for animals, bedtime stories, and playing the game “Ready, Set, Go” with his siblings.

Corie Walsh, 40, has been charged with first-degree murder. According to court documents, Barrett’s two older siblings discovered him with a rope around his neck in the basement. The case has drawn comparisons to that of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts mother accused of killing her three young children in January 2023, and Corie Walsh had reportedly been following Clancy's case.
