Todd Tucker Details 'Dark' and Lonely Divorce From Kandi Burruss

Todd Tucker, formerly of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta," has revealed the profound emotional toll his separation and subsequent divorce from Kandi Burruss took on him. In a candid interview with Page Six, Tucker described his post-separation period as "dark" and lonely, admitting he stayed in the guesthouse of their shared home, isolated with his thoughts.

"It was a lot of alone time," Tucker, 53, shared. "It was a lot of time in my head, thinking, trying to figure out, ‘What did I just do? What just happened? Did I lose my family?’ So I’m gonna be honest, I had nobody really to lean on."

He further confessed that during this difficult time, he "looked at [his] gun," a heartbreaking detail he plans to share in his forthcoming docuseries, "Til Divorce Do Us Part." This series, which Tucker described as his response to Burruss's "I Do. I Did. I’m Done." tour, aims to present his perspective on the dissolution of their marriage.

Despite the emotional hardship, Tucker recalled a turning point: "But then I snapped out of it, like, ‘No, you have a family. You have kids that you have to see them through.'"

Tucker and Burruss, who share son Ace, 10, and daughter Blaze, 6, also have adult daughters from previous relationships, Kaela Tucker, 30, and Riley Burruss, 24. Tucker expressed his commitment to his children, stating, "I’m about to find me a therapist and just take this journey of rebuilding myself, getting myself where I wanna be and being the best dad and the best co-parent and moving forward."

He believes it is important for men to express their emotions, noting the potential health consequences of suppressing them. "I think we [men] carry a lot of stress, we carry a lot inside, and sometimes, it’s too late, you know? It’s a stroke, or he’s got cancer because he’s been holding it [in]," he explained. "So I want guys to know, man, just get it out, speak to a therapist, however you got to get it out. Don’t try to bash anybody, don’t try and make anybody look bad, but just get it off your chest."

Tucker also addressed Burruss's criticism of him discussing their private life, particularly their reported marital "threesomes." He argued that Burruss herself has been vocal about their bedroom activities throughout her decade-plus on "RHOA," on her talk show "Kandi Koated Nights," and through her sex toy line, Bedroom Kandi.

"Is the threesome s–t for real for real?" Tucker recalled Peter Thomas, ex-husband of "RHOA" alum Cynthia Bailey, asking him in the docuseries. Tucker confirmed, "We did, we did. I would say [for] most of our marriage, we did."

He stated that Burruss did not consult him before sharing personal details, and he generally accepted it. "So at the end of the day, I’m not throwing out there any new information... It was just a conversation, and that’s really all it was."

Regarding the specific reasons for the divorce after 11 years of marriage, Tucker vaguely alluded to an "incident" involving another woman, which he plans to detail in his docuseries. He explained that while friends suggested buying flowers, he felt the issues were deeper and proposed therapy, which he felt was not fully embraced.

"I made vows to be with her forever, and I would have stayed forever," Tucker said, while acknowledging that "sometimes, things aren’t meant forever." He emphasized that despite the personal turmoil, they maintain a civil relationship for their children.

Tucker suggested that reality television played a role in their marital issues. He also reflected on his relationship with Burruss's mother, Joyce Jones, stating he feels a sense of relief now that she is less involved in his life. "I allowed a lot of disrespect from somebody who didn’t like me, and I never stopped trying to prove myself to her," he said.

Currently, Tucker is focused on his personal healing and is not dating, stating he needs time to "get [himself] together" before he can be "ready to be a good man for somebody" else. He is scheduled to host a double feature premiere of his docuseries and his new film, "Don’t Bring Your Man to Atlanta," next month.
