A man arrested for entering NBC’s 30 Rockefeller Center offices and confronting “Today” show anchor Craig Melvin has been charged with multiple hate crimes, according to the New York Police Department. Andrew Truelove was booked on charges including hate crime menacing, hate crime burglary, hate crime criminal trespass, and harassment.

The incident occurred Thursday morning when Truelove allegedly bypassed security and entered an unauthorized area of the building. He was reportedly searching for anchor Al Roker. Upon encountering Melvin, Truelove allegedly used racial slurs, including the N-word, before Melvin alerted security. Truelove was then taken into custody without incident.

Both Roker and Melvin, who were not injured, appeared on the “Today” show broadcast later that day but did not directly address the incident. Melvin later posted on social media that he was "doing just fine" and thanked viewers for their concern.

NBC’s “Today” show issued a statement confirming a security incident and stating that the program is cooperating with law enforcement’s investigation. According to a source, the show's staff had been on edge following the earlier disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

The NYPD confirmed an individual was in custody after being alerted to a disorderly person inside the building. An investigation into the matter is active and ongoing.
