San Antonio has added veteran wing depth by agreeing to a two-year, $31 million contract with forward Tobias Harris, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal brings a seasoned presence to the Spurs’ young roster as they aim to build on their NBA Finals appearance.

Harris, who will turn 34 later this month, spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Pistons. He was acquired by Detroit during the summer of 2024 from the Philadelphia 76ers and became a key role player. Last season, Harris averaged 13.3 points per game on 46.9 percent shooting from the field and 36.8 percent from three-point range for the Pistons. Detroit finished the regular season with a 60-22 record before losing in the Eastern Conference semifinals to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

During Detroit's playoff run, Harris had a stretch of eight consecutive games scoring 20 points. However, his playing time decreased in the final two games against Cleveland.

The Spurs’ frontline, particularly its wing depth, was a point of focus after their NBA Finals loss to the New York Knicks, who featured a larger lineup. Harris's ability to shoot from beyond the arc is expected to provide additional offensive firepower for San Antonio, which posted an average three-point shooting percentage of 35.9 on 37.9 attempts per game last season. He will join a group of wings that includes Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, and Harrison Barnes.

The addition of Harris marks the Spurs' first significant move of a relatively quiet offseason. Earlier this week, San Antonio re-signed Harrison Barnes to a one-year, $8 million contract.

For the Pistons, Harris’s departure adds to an offseason of significant roster changes. Detroit has traded away center Isaiah Stewart to Memphis, acquired Isaiah Joe in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and signed John Collins in free agency. The future of restricted free agent center Jalen Duren remains uncertain, as he had been exploring sign-and-trade options.
