Titans Release Jordan Elliott After Sideline Altercation Escalates to Retrieval of Firearm

The Tennessee Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott on Tuesday, citing an unspecified incident at the team facility. New reports indicate the situation involved a heated clash with a teammate that escalated to Elliott leaving the facility to retrieve a firearm from his vehicle.

According to reports from A to Z Sports and NFL reporter Aaron Wilson, Elliott became involved in a physical altercation with a teammate on the practice field. This dispute reportedly carried over into the locker room, where Elliott stormed out and headed to the players' parking garage to get a gun from his car. Security cameras are said to have captured the events.

An NFL source described the incident as "wild," adding that Elliott had been experiencing personal problems that he brought to work. The source expressed relief that no one was harmed, stating, "To overreact like that is absolutely crazy. We're just glad that no one got hurt and it's over."

Veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers is credited with de-escalating the situation and talking Elliott down before any altercation involving the firearm could occur. The Metro Nashville Police Department stated that no reports were filed and they were not contacted by the team regarding the incident.

The Titans' initial statement on October 15th stated, "Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter."

Elliott had appeared in the Titans' first five games of the season, starting one and recording 11 tackles. He was inactive for the team's most recent game following the incident. The defensive tackle signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Titans in March, having previously played for the Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers.
