Titans QB Cam Ward Responds to Family Threats Amid Team's Winless Streak
Ward states that improved play on the field will address online criticism directed at his family.
Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward has addressed threats made against his family members on social media, calling the behavior "weird" while expressing confidence that his performance on the field will ultimately resolve the situation. The Titans currently hold a 0-3 record to start the season.
Ward's comments came after his sister, Chantel Ward, publicly shared that she and other family members had received threatening messages in response to the team's struggles. "At the end of the day, people are weird," Ward told reporters on Wednesday. "They can say whatever they want at the end of the day, but I think football will take care of a lot of it. My family knows the position I’m in and what I’ve wanted my whole life. They’re in this position as well with me."
He emphasized that improved play would be the solution. "Every adverse situation I have, I’m going to take on. It’s really just about making plays on the football field. If I do that, we do that as a team, it’s going to cut all that out,” he said.
The criticism intensified following the Titans' recent loss to the New York Giants, a game that ended with an interception by Ward late in the fourth quarter, effectively sealing the defeat. Following the game, Chantel Ward posted on social media, distinguishing between legitimate sports criticism and personal attacks on a player's family. "Criticize the game, criticize a play, be frustrated with your team. That’s sports, and I completely understand that. But seeking out a player’s sister, parents or other family members to personally attack them because you’re upset about what happened on a football field is something completely different,” she wrote.
Ward has thrown for 504 yards and two touchdowns through the first three games of the 2026 season, with one interception.
