Singer Tina Arena has broken her silence regarding the conviction and jailing of her ex-husband, Ralph Carr, for rape. Speaking at the Melbourne International Film Festival following the premiere of her documentary "Tina Arena: Unravel Me," Arena expressed her belief in "divine intervention" and karma.

"I believe that justice has been done and the right thing has happened," Arena told an audience at The Astor Theatre. "You reap what you sow, so now he's reaping what he sowed."

She also lauded the "unbelievable courage" of Carr's victim, who has remained legally anonymous. "My heart goes out to her, to her mum, her family for having the unbelievable courage to come forward in unbelievably complicated circumstances," Arena said. "So first and foremost a big thank you to you, whoever you are darling, wherever you are, a big thank you, not only from me but a big thank you from a lot of people."

Earlier on the red carpet, Arena stated she "couldn't give a shit" about her former husband. "This is about me. I don't care about him. Couldn't give a sh*t," she told reporters.

Carr, who managed Arena's early career from 1995 to 1999 during their four-year marriage, was found guilty by a jury of nine women and three men of assaulting the woman at his Melbourne home on March 24, 2023. The victim testified for six days. Carr, who has represented other entertainment figures and athletes, will remain in custody until a pre-sentence hearing.

Arena has previously described her marriage to Carr as "disgraceful" and stated she suffered significant financial loss as a result, calling it "a wonderful business transaction, from his perspective."
