TIME100 Next Gala Celebrates Emerging Leaders in New York City

The 2026 TIME100 Next Gala brought together a diverse group of rising stars from fields including health, climate, business, sports, entertainment, and politics in Manhattan on Thursday, October 29. The event served as a platform for influential figures to connect and exchange ideas.

Among the attendees was Colombian senator Luis Carlos Rúa, who gained attention for his unconventional anti-corruption Senate campaign. Rúa arrived at the gala in a white elephant costume, later removing it to reveal a suit. He carried a stuffed white elephant, a symbol representing unfinished public infrastructure projects in Colombia. Rúa's campaign focused on anti-corruption initiatives.

The evening featured a performance by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Raye, who performed songs from her sophomore album, "This Music May Contain Hope," and a cover of Julie London's "Cry Me a River." Raye spoke about hope being a "necessary emotion."

Guests also visited a portrait studio sponsored by Toyota, where they were photographed against a celestial backdrop designed by art director Jana Frost. The event was presented by Rolex, Toyota, American Airlines, Danantara, Project Management Institute, and Target.

Notable attendees and interactions included actor Himesh Patel with Food4Education founder Wawira Njiru, musician Sombr with actress Joey King, NBA player Tyrese Maxey with comedian Druski, and director Curry Barker with actor Paapa Essiedu.
