Tim Patrick Believes Jets Offense Could Be 'Insane' When Fully Healthy
Wide receiver Tim Patrick expressed high confidence in the New York Jets' offensive potential, calling it the most talented unit he's been a part of.
Jets wide receiver Tim Patrick believes the team's offense has the potential to be the best in the league once it reaches full strength. Patrick, who made his debut for the Jets on Sunday after returning from injured reserve, spoke about the unit's talent following the team's victory over the Browns.
"We could be the best, honestly. We could be the best," Patrick stated. "We have so much talent, it’s insane."
The Jets are currently dealing with injuries to key players, including running back Breece Hall and wide receivers Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper Jr. Tight end Kenyon Sadiq also left Sunday's game with a concussion. The team expects to have more clarity on their statuses later in the week.
Patrick, who was part of the 2024 Lions team that finished with a 15-2 record and featured a potent offense, feels the current Jets squad surpasses even that group in terms of talent. He specifically highlighted the depth and quality of the tight end room as a distinguishing factor.
"I feel like the tight end room here is what separates [this offense] from that offense," Patrick explained. "It’s a little bit more deeper. Obviously, Sam LaPorta is great. Brock [Wright] is great. But from top to bottom, we dress five tight ends every week. Not every team in the NFL can do that. Any week any one of those guys could be the guy. We have freaking Sadiq. He runs a 4.3 and he’s not from this planet. It’s one of those things — our tight end room is going to make us that offense that we’re going to be."
He added that the abundance of talent allows for versatility, noting that the team can adapt its game plan depending on matchups and player availability. "It’s going to be scary because there’s just so many different ways we can win. It’s just making sure for that week we know which way we need to win the game because we have so much talent. Sometimes Garrett [Wilson’s] not going to get 10 catches. We’re going to have to run the ball 30-plus times. Sometimes we might not be able to run the ball. We’re going to have to throw it a little bit more. It’s just knowing the type of game before we get into it,” Patrick said.
In a separate development from Sunday's game, Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick drew a personal foul penalty for a hit on Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion that resulted in a concussion for Concepcion. The hit has sparked discussion, though defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn defended Fitzpatrick, stating he is not a dirty player and that the incident occurred in a fast-paced situation.
