The Miami Heat have agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million contract with guard Tim Hardaway Jr., according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. This move comes just eight days after the team acquired superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, signaling an aggressive offseason approach.
Hardaway, 34, spent last season with the Denver Nuggets, averaging 13.5 points per game while starting six games. His NBA career has included stints with the New York Knicks, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, and Detroit Pistons. He was originally drafted by the Knicks in 2013.
During his tenure with the Mavericks from 2019 to 2024, Hardaway averaged between 14 and 17 points per game, establishing himself as a notable three-point shooter alongside Luka Doncic. He is expected to provide much-needed shooting to a Heat team that includes Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, Bobby Portis, and Andrew Wiggins.
Following their elimination in the play-in round by the Charlotte Hornets, the Heat are making significant roster adjustments in an effort to compete with top teams in the Eastern Conference.
